These little fake chicken drumsticks are a popular snack or side dish in Brazil, and they’re the perfect fingerfood for any party. They’re easy enough to make as long as you don’t mind deep-fat frying … Coxinhas mean chicken legs in Brazilian Portuguese, and the dumplings are filled with shredded chicken breast, wrapped in a dough that needs to be cooked before you can form in into little parcels, which are then rolled in breadcrumbs and fried. This process gives them a lovely texture, making them well worth the effort!
I am indebted to Elisa’s blog Authentic Brazilian Cuisine, where you get a wonderful introduction to the whole range of Brazilian salgadinhos, or little snacks, as well as easy to follow instructions. I leave you with the link and her instructions – there is nothing I can add to that other than DO try this at home, and enjoy with a generous splash of hot sauce!
