Easter is a very special time in Catholic countries, as Easter marks the end of Lent and the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. The absence of eggs and other dairy products during Lent might explain, in parts at least, why eggs play such a central role in our Easter celebrations!
In many ways, Lent is the old-fashioned Christmas hangover cure: after all the indulgences of carnival and Mardi Gras, you’re ready for a massive detox. It’s like Dry January but in March, lasting (in theory) for 40 days. Well, we’ll see how that pans out.
